When I completed Phases in 2024 there were a couple of songs that felt too close to finish at the time. I was happy with my decision but I knew I would revisit the tracks when I was ready. This year (2026) I am working on Em #3 and not putting anything out. I decided to go back to the additional tracks and fell back in love with them. I asked my collaborators from Move. (Arahi Whaanga and Joshua Worthington-Church) to help finish the tracks "Later" and "Sorrow", while I repurposed some of my favourite unused lyrics from "Phases" into an intro for the album.
I had planned to do a small run of 12" vinyl for this release (the original release was on 10" DIY vinyls which I had to trim the songs for) but after discussing it with my mum, she and my dad offered to help me do a larger run of vinyl with Stebbing. A big step-up, and very scary! But with the help of Collective to distribute, an exciting new development for this project.
I am releasing the new track "Later" to accompany the release, with a cover image from the album cover shoot with Jack Mensah. The wonderful Ali Burns has helped me with press images and visualisers for the new songs. I feel I am both stepping up my releases and growing into myself as a collaborator. I'm so excited to share everything with you, but also nervous, please go buy a vinyl!
This feels like the perfect next step of the process, songs written back at the time with a sound informed from my growth during Move. Working with original visuals and new aesthetics from new friends. "Later" and "Sorrow" were only written about six months before my next single "Love to Be". The "Phases Intro" video features me swimming in winter, almost a prequel to the dolphin video. Not to mention, the process of this release is a new step in for Em as I tinker away on what comes next.

On the 9th of October (the two year anniversary of Phases) I am releasing a 12" vinyl of the record with three extra tracks!
